Our Ecovillage Projects
We currently have two ecovillage projects happening in Nova Scotia…
Edgewood Ecovillage
Thanks to FMV’s dedication to Edgewood and its full interim board (4 people) this ecovillage project has been gaining funds in Forming, Capacity Building, and Planning grant areas since its inception on May 24, 2022. The goal is sustainable affordable housing for ages 50+ on the south shore of Yarmouth county. See more…
Upcoming Villages
- Ecovillage “R” (aka the PIC (pagan intentional community)) board members have been organizing themselves as of October, 2024 and has accomplished their fundraising (as of Jan 2025) in order to cover fees for incorporation (in process). The name of the cooperative will be announced at the time of incorporating as the board moves from temporary/acting to “interim” status. Purpose is for an interfaith spiritual community with a focus on 30-50 units of sustainable, affordable housing. Land is being sought anywhere within about 90 minutes of Halifax. See more by joining Atlantic Pagan Ecovillages (Facebook group).
- Ecovillage “A” (name TBD), in pre-capacity phase. Purpose is to provide 5-10 affordable, guided, and sustainable housing for 19-35 years of age in the transitional period of renting to owning. This is to support the in-need development of young adults in the housing market. Location will be Tusket area.
- Ecovillage “O”, (name chosen, not yet incorporated as a housing cooperative), in pre-capacity phase. Purpose is to be a community by pagans and open to all spiritual paths. Hoping to provide transitional and affordable housing as well as experimental and traditional construction for up to 80 planned units, depending on location (potentially New Glasgow area).
