for Forest & Meadow Villages (FMV).
We are not just grant writers! We help
you and your organization to move
through every step of the ecovillage
process, from forming to building, by
seeking funding, creating necessary
documents and capacity building, and
if we do not find approved funding, then
you do not pay us!
Here are the steps to moving forward:
1) First, choose the services you want.
We can discuss this if you need. Where
phone conversations may occur, final
decisions we make together will be done
in writing via email to keep a record for
the benefit of all parties.
2) Secondly, the contract is signed by
both parties (in this case by your
organization and FMV).
3) Next, funding will be sought (by FMV)
to cover these costs. We will need your input
at the beginning for this so will have questions
for you. Remember that these services
provided are FREE for you/FREE for your
ecovillage, pending funding approval (if it is
not funded, you are not out any money).
For example, if a “forming” grant is funded
by the appropriate funder, then they will
release funds to your organization, who in
turn pays FMV.
4) Then the work will commence. Please
know that we will keep you informed along
the way, typically with an email update each
Friday. Deliverables will occur, and will be
sent to you for approval, editing, discussion,
and approval, and then to the funder as per
the contract.
5) Different stages typically require
different grants (sometimes more than one,
overlapping). For instance, the “Forming”
phase is one grant, while the “Planning” stage
is another, “Pre-development” (Study/
infrastructure) and “Development” (Pilot
(optional) and construction) are yet different
phases and require both grants and loans on
the part of the ecovillage (which must qualify
according to the funders’ requirements). We
will guide you through the entire process, and
do the work for any required documents/files,
so don’t worry—there is even funding available
to hire a fundraiser at the appropriate phase.
